Digital Exhibits Landing Page

Improving accessibility of library resources for a wider audience.

Why is this important?

In an era where digitized resources are becoming increasingly preferred over their physical counterparts, it has become ever more important for libraries to have a digital presence. We created a landing page that hosts the 300,000+ digital collections the UC San Diego Library has to offer.

THE PROBLEM

Where is everything?

Users were struggling to navigate through all of the different library platforms, and site traffic was at an all time low. The Library's resources were scattered throughout the main site, leading to widespread user confusion.

INTERVIEWS, RESEARCH, PROCESSING

Talking to the experts.

Before diving into the deep-end of prototyping, we conducted a month of competitive analysis and one-on-one interviews with head librarians to learn more about our project scope and user base.

WIREFRAMES & PROTOTYPING

Diving in.

Wireframe time! Taking all the insights we gathered from our competitive analysis and user research, I began mapping out potential layouts for the digital exhibits landing page.

FINAL PRODUCT

Accessible resources, all on one site.

Research is one of the core principles of UX design, and good research requires reliable sources. With just a few clicks, this new landing page opens the door to the UC San Diego Library's endless resources. Site traffic on all platforms were increased by over 50%, bringing research to a wider audience.
