The rise of digitized resources.
Improving accessibility of library resources for a wider audience.
Adapting libraries to the changing tech landscape.
In an era where digitized resources are becoming increasingly preferred over their physical counterparts, it has become ever more important for librarians to have a digital presence. Thus, we created a landing page that hosts the 300,000+ digital collections the UC San Diego Library has to offer.
Where is everything?
Before diving into the deep-end of prototyping, we conducted a month of competitive analysis and one-on-one interviews to learn more about our user base. Users were struggling to navigate through all of the different library platforms, and site traffic was at an all time low. The Library's resources were scattered throughout the main site, leading to widespread user confusion.
Accessible resources, all on one site.
Research is one of the core principles of UX design, and good research requires reliable sources. With just a few clicks, this new landing page opens the door to the UC San Diego Library's endless resources. Site traffic on the platforms were increased by at least 10%, bringing research to a wider audience.
